About Us

Established 1974

CVR Ltd was founded in Rochdale in the United Kingdom by Mr Alan Whillock, a former Patternmaker with Ford Motor Company.

1974 to 1980

CVR Ltd manufacture and supply Commercial Vehicle Roofs into the Vehicle Building Industry. Innovative ideas allowed the company to expand its Range of Vehicle Roofs.

1980

CVR move to a larger factory to allow the company to expand.

1982 - 1985

CVR continues its expansion plans. The first major investment came in 1982 when the company decided to compliment its range of vehicle roofs with the introduction of a GRP Panel plant. A three acre site was purchased on a developing trading estate near to the M62 motorway in Rochdale. A 15,000sq ft building was planned and built specifically for the GRP Panel Plant.

1986

CVRs third area of development was introduced to compliment the Roofs and GRP Panel business. CVR employed skilled Commercial Vehicle Bodybuilders to enhance our product range. CVR were now able to offer its customers a full compliment of ready to assemble flat packed Commercial Vehicle Kit Bodies. We became a one stop shop for ready to assemble flat packed products from the chassis upwards, hence being able to Offer Roofs, Panels and Kit Bodies.

1987 – 2002

CVR continued its growth and development. In October 2002 the existing Directors with more than 40 years experience between them agreed a management buyout from the retiring Alan Whillock the founder of CVR back in 1974.This was completed in November 2002.

2003

CVR purchases 20,000 sq ft of storage, factory and Office space for future expansion.

2007 – 2008

CVR continues its growth and looks to the future. Between Dec 2007 and May 2008 substantial investment into new plant and machinery has enabled the continual expansion into our existing markets and diversification into other markets. CVRs state of the art 14metre x 3.2metres CNC Machine along with a fully automatic adhesive applicator are just an example of CVRs future mission.
